Since the creation of the Small Initiatives Program (PPI) in 2006 and the OSCAN PPI (civil society organizations in North Africa) in 2014, more than 300 projects have been funded in some 30 countries in North Africa and sub-Saharan Africa.

In total, nearly €20 million in grants were awarded to the 2 programs (60% of which went directly to CSOs) in favor of biodiversity conservation. Beyond project funding, CSOs have benefited from technical and organizational support aimed at developing their capacities to implement and monitor small projects, with a view to promoting the sustainability of their projects and the replication of the PPI approach.

The FFEM, the MAVA Foundation, the French Committee of the IUCN and the IUCN Mediterranean have carried out a cross-capitalization exercise of the different experiences of the PPI and PPI OSCAN.
