On-going call for proposals

A call for proposals targeting emerging African Civil Society Organizations (CSO) that have not previously benefited from a PPI grant is now open.


This call for proposals aims at financing about 15 new projects in 26 countries in West and Central Africa with a maximum contribution of 35 000€ for a duration of 20 months maximum.


The eligible themes are the conservation of biodiversity and the fight against climate change through Nature-based Solutions (NbS).


Eligible applicants for this round of PPI 6 small grants are emerging African CSOs that have not previously benefited from a PPI grant, working on high biodiversity values and/or that are important for addressing climate change issues.


The recipients must have:

A recognised legal status that allows them to receive a grant;

– Confirmed on-ground experience ;

– Experience in project management ;

– A solid knowledge in the field relevant to the project, e.g. biodiversity conservation and/or on climate change issues through nature-based solutions.


PPI 6 will operate in the following 26 countries :


  • Central Africa : Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, DR Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Rwanda, Sao Tome & Principe.


  • West Africa : Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Togo.


  • Atlantic coast of West Africa : Cape Verde Islands, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mauritania, Senegal, Sierra Leone.



Next dates to remember for this round of call for proposals PPI 6 are :


Deadline for sending pre-proposal forms: 28st of August 2022 (6.00 pm, Paris Time GMT+1)

Once CSOs are invited by IUCN, complete proposals will have to be sent before 15th of January 2023 (6 pm, Paris Time GMT+1).

– Pre-proposals and complete proposals received after 6.00 pm (Paris Time GMT+1) will not be considered.

Final decision for funding: 31st of March 2023

How are projects selected ?

A selection committee made up of experts (complete list of members available here), IUCN members and partners (NGOs and French foundations that finance projects in the same regions) is in charge of selecting PPI projects.
