Protecting and restoring the CAVALLY/TAI/GREBO/SAPO transboundary complex while concretely supporting citizen engagement and improving local communities’ living conditions.
Mission
Actions
-
Forest protection and governance: ensuring the complex’s integrity through strict law enforcement, independent observation missions, anti-corruption advocacy, and raising awareness of protection rules among residents and users.
-
Ecosystem restoration: producing seedlings to reforest degraded areas, supporting agroforestry, and restoring the eroded banks of the Cavally River to combat erosion and preserve hydrological services.
-
Sustainable economic development: offering neighbouring populations economic alternatives to illegal logging, notably poultry farming, beekeeping and non-timber forest product processing.
History
NOFNA is an Ivorian non-governmental organisation working in conservation. It was established in accordance with Law No. 60-315 of 21 September 1960. NOFNA originally began as an initiative by citizens of the Cavally/Taï/Grebo/Sapo complex, alarmed by the massive encroachment of cocoa farming into this last large forest block in West Africa.
