An ecomuseum for Haut-Ogooué

In a Gabon covered by forest across 85% of its territory, Haut-Ogooué features the distinctive Bateke Plateaux ecosystem: a mosaic of savannas and forests, home to unique flora and fauna, including some iconic species: gorillas, elephants, antelopes, and endemic birds. Long-term biodiversity protection relies above all on education and awareness-raising. The association “Maison du Tourisme et de la Nature” therefore wishes to create an ecomuseum, showcasing the nature and culture of Haut-Ogooué. The objective is to involve as many stakeholders as possible — local schools, the university, parks, administrations, research centres — and to raise awareness among the general public, with a priority on school-age children.
