Who are we?

The DI is a Ghanaian Africa non-governmental, not-for-profit sustainable development organization formed with the goal of creating an enabling environment for empowering Civil Society Organizations and communities to facilitate the linkage between micro and macro levels of society for sustainable development. We work within the framework of Community based nature conservation, governance and economic empowerment.

Objectives

– To provide training for human development

– To engage in sustainable community development programs (nature conservation, inclusive governance, economic empowerment)

– To provide services in research; policy analysis, policy dialogue and advocacy

– To develop and engage in strategic partnerships with all who share in our vision and values.

Our actions

  • Set up a functional CREMAs mechanism in the Keta Lagoon Complex Ramsar site
  • Train relevant stakeholders on national legislation regarding environmental crime
  • Train community volunteers to handle marine turtles
  • Negotiate with livelihood beneficiaries to set a CREMA conservation fund
  • Collect and input regularly data into the database on sea turtles and their nesting areas
  • Develop fisheries value chain in the project communities
  •  Mangroves conservation
