• Continue our efforts to preserve sea turtle populations on the islets of Rombos, Fogo and Brava

• Strengthen conservation actions for shark and ray species on the islets of Rombos, Fogo and Brava

• Continue and strengthen endemic plant conservation activities at national level where no other initiatives exist and, if necessary, support such initiatives

• Expand our environmental education actions, more commitments from communities and local actors; Ensure sustainable community development with biodiversity-friendly activities.

Projecto Vitó was founded in 2009 on the island of Fogo, Cabo Verde, as a local initiative focused on the conservation of sea turtles, inspired by the urgent need to protect threatened species and engage coastal communities.

The project began with awareness-raising activities, surveillance and community-based monitoring, and gradually evolved into an integrated conservation approach grounded in science and local participation. Over the years, Projecto Vitó expanded its scope to include the conservation of seabirds, endemic plants and marine ecosystems, consolidating itself as a national association committed to biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.
