History
ODZH was created with the aim of conserving wetlands that are important to the life cycle of migratory waterbirds and seabirds, as well as to local communities. Given the importance of these areas for the people of Guinea-Bissau, there is an urgent need to implement an integrated and shared management system for these sites, so that they can continue to play their fundamental role in resilience to climate shocks through their vital functions. With this in mind, ODZH has become an open space for study, learning, reflection, innovation and knowledge production, fostering dialogue on the wetlands of Guinea-Bissau. The organisation brings together people with multidisciplinary training, from diverse backgrounds and scientific fields, driven by the will to develop sustainable actions across several key sites in the country.
