History

Nebeday is a Senegalese association that has been working for nearly 15 years on environmental protection and sustainable development. “Nébéday” is the Wolof name for the Moringa Oleifera tree, often called the “tree of life” because it can feed and heal people.

Environment and development are intrinsically linked. Biodiversity is humanity’s life insurance. The ecological crisis reminds us of humanity’s dependence on its environment and its responsibility towards future generations. Preserving our natural resources means protecting our future and that of our children.

Drawing on tradition, Nébéday informs, raises awareness and involves the whole of civil society to spark local action. The association places particular emphasis on women as agents of change and on children; together, they are leaders of sustainable development.
