The NGO Les Anges-Gardiens de la Nature (AGN) works in Burkina Faso for the sustainable and participatory management of protected areas. Our work aims to protect wildlife, restore threatened ecosystems and strengthen the ecological resilience of sensitive areas, while supporting local communities in securing and making the most of their land.
Mission
Actions
-
Professionalising eco-guards (recruitment, training, equipping).
-
Environmental awareness and education (local campaigns, youth education, eco-citizenship).
-
Sustainable local development (income-generating activities, ecotourism, support for vulnerable communities).
Genèse
AGN’s story began in 2002 with the creation of the Association pour la Valorisation des Produits Locaux (AVPL) in Sanguie province, working on eco-entrepreneurship and sustainable forest management. As threats such as poaching, insecurity, climate change and economic precarity grew, the association decided to scale up nationally, leading to the creation in 2018 of Les Anges-Gardiens de la Nature (AGN), which succeeded AVPL and refocused its mission on training eco-guards for anti-poaching work across the WAP (W-Arly-Pendjari) and PONASI (Po-Nazinga-Sissili) ecological complexes.
