History
ACB-CI (Action pour la Conservation de la Biodiversité en Côte d’Ivoire) was founded in 2007 by a group of Ivorian researchers alarmed by habitat degradation and biodiversity loss driven by growing human pressures. They set out to build genuine environmental awareness to safeguard biological diversity, guided by the conviction that nature conservation and economic development are not incompatible, and that protected areas must take into account the socio-economic realities of neighbouring populations while also representing significant economic potential worth valorising. ACB-Côte d’Ivoire brings together experienced specialists in mammal, bird and amphibian ecology, wildlife and plant surveys, ecological monitoring, socio-economic studies around protected areas, community awareness-raising, human-wildlife conflict studies, and agroforestry.
