The project seeks to give a different image of Madagascar’s rural areas, showing through an artistic and creative approach that they are vibrant, playful, and offer unique opportunities for socio-economic value creation. It also seeks to place local initiative at the heart of the search for sustainable development solutions, in a way that respects the unique biodiversity of each site.
The FONIALA project is intended as a grassroots environmental awareness initiative, incorporating the cultural specificities of the regions concerned by the project while promoting the development of ecotourism.
– Promoting the sustainable management of natural resources and the protection of biodiversity in rural areas, and fostering partnerships between farmers’ groups, village associations and the private sector (brought together within the FONIALA local steering committee);
– Promoting non-formal education through education for all, thanks to greater knowledge, protection and valorisation of Malagasy biodiversity;
– Diversifying ecotourism products to attract travel agencies and the international public, thereby generating local economic benefits.
