Three Marigots Regional Heritage Area

The Three Marigots area is located in northern Senegal, a few kilometres from the Djoudj National Bird Park, a World Heritage Site renowned for its rich birdlife, particularly migratory species, while the Ndialel, their outlet, is a Ramsar site of international importance. The classification of the Three Marigots as a Regional Heritage Area complements this conservation framework.

Across the 18 villages concerned, this project aims to classify these emblematic cultural and natural sites as a Regional Heritage Area. The goal is to preserve “everyday” biodiversity by formalising and strengthening the traditional protection these sites already benefit from.
