Although located between several Protected Areas and part of a landscape of high conservation importance (Sena Oura, Zah Soo), there is currently no reliable and up-to-date data on the ecological richness of the Déli Classified Forest (1,340 ha). Therefore, understanding the dynamics of this forest ecosystem remains a priority, which should enable its identification to be completed in order to confirm whether or not the Déli Classified Forest is a key biodiversity area (KBA). Due to the uncontrolled exploitation of this territory, particularly the expansion of cultivated areas, the lack of effective law enforcement and the absence of local regulations on the environment and natural resources, human-elephant conflicts (HEC) are emerging and leading to the poaching of these pachyderms.
